Chandigarh, November 29, 2013: To smooth the traffic in Phagwara and Jalandhar cities, the Punjab PWD Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon has demanded from the centre to construct four under passes, a fly over and RoB on the congested NH-1 crossing the towns.

Dhillon in his letter said that there is provision of at least four under passes, a flyover and ROB in small reach of about 5 Km in Phagwara Town making it virtually a roller coaster ride on NH-1. There is necessity to provide a through flyover in Phagwara Town starting from JCT mill ROB up to junction of NH-1 with Phagwara Hoshiarpur road to avoid traffic problems in the city.

Dhillon in his letter has also demanded the Provision of Entry and Exist points near PAP flyover Jalandhar. He said that there is no provision of Entry and Exist points from 6-lane flyover at PAP Chowk Jalandhar. This will create difficulties for traffic coming from Delhi to enter into Jalandhar city and entry of Pathankot bound traffic from Jalandhar city into the 6-lane Highway at PAP chowk Jalandhar. Therefore the flyover without entry and exist point will be of little use for people of Jalandhar city. Punjab Minister said that there is an urgent need to provide suitable Entry and Exist point near flyover at PAP Chowk Jalandhar.

Dhillon hoped that National Highway Authority of India would take all necessary action to provide suitable provisions in Phagwara Town and PAP Chowk flyover Jalandhar so that this Highway becomes more useful for the public of these cities.
