Chandigarh, November 19, 2013: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed deep shock and anguish over the tragic demise of 9 people near Ramdas in Amritsar district due to plunging of jeep into a canal.

The deceased included three women, four children and two men and the accident took place when the jeep, in which they were travelling, plunged into a canal. They were hailed from village Akku Ke Maste of Ferozepur district.

Meanwhile, Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue and Public Relations Minister also expressed grief over the demise of 9 people.

Expressing profound grief and sorrow over this disastrous accident, Badal, Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia shared their heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved families and prayed to the Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss in this hour of grief and grant peace to the departed souls.

Manwhile, another report from Chandigarh said, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today expressed deep shock and anguish over the tragic demise of all the 10 persons when the vehicle in which they were traveling fell into the canal near Near Ajnala (Amritsar District). Nine persons including two women and five children were from village Akku Maste Ke of district Ferozepur and one  from Ajanala.
Badal shared his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved families and prayed to the Almighty to give them courage to bear huge loss in this hour of crisis and grant peace to the departed souls.
The Chief Minister also announced an ex-gratia grant of Re. one lac each to the next of kin of the deceased.  He also directed the Civil and Police administration to extend all help to send the bodies of the victims at their native places.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia also shared their heartfelt condolences over this tragic incident.
