Chandigarh, October 9, 2013: The Shiromani Akali Dal today lashed out at non serious approach of the Congress led UPA government on tackling the large scale killings of Punjabis abroad during last decade and said that it has totally failed to protect the life and liberty of the citizens of the country in foreign nations.

Strongly condemning the latest incident of killing of two Punjabis in Philippines, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra General Secretary SAD and former Member Parliament said that it was shocking that the youth of the state are being made target regularly in the foreign nations but what to blame the Prime Minister even the Union Minister of state for External Affairs Mrs. Preneet Kaur who represents the state in the Union cabinet has done nothing to take up the cases with the respective governments. He said that it was most unfortunate that Amrik Singh (24) of Lallian Khurd and Jaswinder Singh (38) of Jallandhar district has become the latest target of the violent attacks in the Philippines.

He said that it is estimated that more than 250 Punjabi youth have been killed in Philippines alone during the last one decade. Total case of murder of Punjabi youth and violent attack on the them in different countries have surpassed thousands in number but the Congress led UPA has become mute spectator to these incidents. He said that protection of life and liberty of the natives of the country is the constitutional duty of the country’s government but the UPA is least cared to perform its constitutional obligations.

Urging the Prime Minister to take up the matter serious as it has serious repercussion on the future of the Punjabi youth in various countries, the SAD leader said that as more and more youth from the state are pursuing higher studies and taking up their careers abroad it becomes imperative for the centre government to ensure their safety. He also asked the Union Minister Preneet Kaur shun her non performing attitude and start working for the welfare of the people particularly of Punjab as she had got the opportunity to represent Punjab in the central government. www.cityairnews.com
