Punjab News- Punjab Governor greets people on Gandhi Jayanti

Chandigarh, October 1, 2013: Greeting people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shivraj V. Patil said that Gandhi ji played a historic role in providing Independence to India through the principle of non-violence, owing to which the people of the country would always remember and follow his message of truth, peace, love, friendship and non –violence.
Describing Mahatma Gandhi as the man of millennium, in his message, Patil said the world has recognised his philosophy and the United Nations has declared his birth anniversary as the  “International Day of Non- Violence,” being observed throughout the length and breadth of globe.
