Punjab News/ Punjab Cabinet approves guidelines for laying of Cables and installation of telecom towers

Chandigarh, November 30, 2013: The Punjab Cabinet approved the guidelines for laying of Cables and installation of telecom towers, masts and poles by infrastructure licensees.  Rationalized rates would now be applied for erection of towers, masts and poles. These guidelines were aimed at creation of robust telecommunication infrastructure with adequate bandwidth to promote information technology, e-governance, e-commerce, convergence of information, communication and entertainment sectors, which would improve the state of the economy, enhance the quality of life of citizens and ensure development of urban and rural areas with equity throughout the state.   
A decision to this effect was taken here at a meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal this afternoon.
