Punjab News- Mahipal Sodhi bags Gold Medal in Baba Sheikh Farid Open Skeet Championship

Ferozepur, September 23, 2013: Mahipal Singh Sodhi bagged Gold Medal in Baba Sheikh Farid Open Skeet Championship held at Baba Farid Law College on September 22 in which more than 50 sports lovers participated in skeet championship, in which clay target from a trap to stimulate the flight of a bird.
Giving this information, Parvinder Sodhi, Executive Member, District Rifle Shooting Association said, “The junior team for open skeet championship was sponsored by the Association under the guidance of Sunil Sharma, District Sports Officer, Ferozepur, who himself is a shooter coach.”.
He further informed that in the skeet championship of individuals of juniors, Mahipal Singh Sodhi bagged Gold Medal while Gurje Pal Singh Rania got Bronze.  In the team events, represented by Parwinder Sodhi, Rohit Gupta, Amanpreet Singh Matharoo, Bhupinder Singh Sodhi, stood first in the championship”.
Parvinder informed that Manjit Singh Narang, Deputy Commissioner is the President of the District Rifle Shooting Association and Guru Hardeep Singh Sodhi is Vice President.
The Boparai Rifle Range situated on the outskirts of village Khane Ke Ahl, inaugurated 39 years back, by Padam Bhushan S.S.Bedi, the then Commissioner of Jalandhar Division on January 28 1974, presently deserted is being renovated with the efforts of its dedicated and devoted members, to make it a visiting spot for the outsiders as there is no place to be seen in this border town, other than the retreat ceremony on Indo-Pak, Parvinder Sodhi added.
Parvinder said proudly that Ronjan Sodhi, double trap shooter, who has recently been conferred the country’s highest sporting honour – Rajiv Gandhi Khle Ratna, is the product of Boparai Rifle Range.
