Punjab News- Ludhiana leads with maximum 9000 applications in regularisation of illegal colonies

Chandigarh, October 1, 2013: The Punjab Government today said that as on Monday more than 35000 applications have been received by the concerned authorities for regularisation of illegal colonies and plots situated in illegal colonies. It was also announced that for the facilitation of applicants the offices of PUDA and GLADA would also remain open on Saturday and Sunday.  
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman clarified that there would be no extension in the last date of applying for regularisation of illegal colonies i.e. October 7 and said that state was receiving an unprecedented response in this regard. He said that by Monday evening authorities had received more than 35,000 applications for regularisation of colonies and plots. He said that district Ludhiana was leading with receiving maximum 9,000 applications followed by Amritsar with 3,000 and Jalandhar with 2,000.  
The Spokesman said that no extension would be given in the date of submitting applications and all the district administrations were extending all possible cooperation and support to the colonizers and plot holders.  He said that Punjab Government has deputed nodal officers for each illegal colony in the state, where awareness camps were being organised under the supervision of concerned sub divisional magistrate and tehsildars so maximum people can avail the benefits of this opportunity.
The Spokesman also warned that state may take legal action against the errant colonizers, promoters and developer under PAPR Act 1995 besides facing disconnecting of water and electricity connection. He said that instructions have also been issued to concerned authorities to effectively launch the sustained drive in this regard so no problems could be faced by the applicants.
