Punjab News- Joshi directs officers to immediately clear cases of CLU and building plans

Chandigarh, October 8, 2013: Anil Joshi, Local Bodies Minister, Punjab today directed the officers of the department to clear cases pertaining to Change of Land Use (CLU) and Building Plans lying pending in the state. He said that to ensure the implementation of his directive he would visit different cities of the state and hold public camps. He accompanied by Vineet Joshi, Assistant Media Advisor to Punjab Government said that initially Amritsar and Jalandhar have been identified to hold camps in this regard, where the Local Bodies Department would resolve such cases on October 26 and November 7 respectively.

Talking to media persons here in his office, Joshi said that this move of Local Bodies department would prove a boon for thousands of applicants, whose cases were lying pending in different districts. He said that after Amritsar and Jalandhar, department would hold such camps at Ludhiana, Patiala and Bathinda to clear the pendency of CLU and Building Plan cases. He said that instructions have been issued to authorities concerned to provide CLU and approval for building plans within a stipulated time limit. He said that officers concerned would be held responsible for any kind of delay in providing CLUs and building plans. Strict action would be initiated against the erring. He has also asked the officers to ensure the receipt of all the required documents from the applicants at the time of submission of applications.

The Local Bodies minister also informed that he would also visit the camps to ensure the transparency and timely disposal of the cases. He also said that state has been divided into 8 clusters for door-to-door collection of garbage and installation of solid waste management plants were on full swing at Ludhiana, Bathinda and Ferozepur while the tender for Jalandhar cluster has been floated whereas the tenders for Amritsar would be floated within few days.

Replying to a query regarding illegal colonies, Joshi said that Punjab Government has already introduced a policy under which a colony or plot could be regularised by paying a nominal fees. He said that the amounts collected through this exercise would be spent on the development of colonies.

Joshi, who is also holding the portfolio of Medical Education and Research, said that the government has already written to Medical Council of India to increase 100 MBBS seats from the ensuing academic session.
