Ferozepur, September 15, 2013: The poor administrative planning itself speaks when all the doctors of Community Health Centre (CHC) Ferozeshah, with two lakh population have been sent on training, without caring for providing of health services to the patients.

Punjab is known as the food basket of India by contributing the lion’s share of foodgrains in the central pool and at the same time, state having a handsome income from the villages but the administrator of the state is not serious about the development in the villages and providing health services.

No doubt, the centre government under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) have set-up Primary Health Centre (PHC), Community Health Centre (CHC) and First Referral Unit (FRU) but by not providing the basic health services, has put a big question mark on the health department.  The major problem being faced by the government hospitals is shortage of doctors but at the same time, the mismanagement on the part of senior officers is also paying a big role in providing the best health services to the villagers.

A similar like situation is being faced in the border town of Ferozepur where because of carelessness on the part of senior officers, the PHC, CHS are lacking the doctors.  Not only this, 24x7 working First Referral Unit are also without any doctor.

It is pertinent to share here that about two lakh population Ferozeshah town having posting of four doctors in CHC but their presence is hardly seen but now with the orders of the government, the hospital is without any doctor.  Out of all the four doctors posted here, two have been sent jointly on training for four months, one lady doctor has proceeded on leave for higher education and the remaining one doctor too has been posted in the Civil Surgeon office permanently with the result, SMO has to attend to the patients of all nature.

Similarly, the doctors at the ‘First Referral Unit’ at Talwandi Bhai, which runs 24x7 and where all the patients are first referred to this place, have also been sent on training.

When SMO, Dr. Ajay Kumar Jhanji was asked  in this regard admitted that in view of shortage of doctors, the people are facing lot of problems but he has to honour the orders received from his superiors.

On the other hand, when local NGOs president Inder Singh Gogia was asked, he said, “In case the doctors have to be sent on training or for higher education, then they should be sent in such a manner that the patients in the hospitals may not suffer.
