Punjab hikes 8�for employees/pensioners

Chandigarh, October 25, 2013: The Punjab Government today announced the 8 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) payable to the state government employees/pensioners which was due from January 2013.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Punjab Government said that the increased DA would be affected from July 1, 2013, which would further enhance the DA to 80 percent from present 72 percent of the basic pay. He further said that the enhanced DA would be paid along with the pay from 1.10.2013 and the remaining enhanced DA from July 2013 to September 2013 would be paid in cash to employees/pensioners. The spokesman has also clarified that the decision about the pending payment of enhanced DA from 1.1.2013 to 30.06.2013 would be taken later.

He said that those employees who were appointed under New Restructured Defined Contributory Pension Scheme from 1.1.2004 or after that has been advised to purchase the National Saving Certificates/Kisan Vikas Pattar from Post offices situated in the state of Punjab against the enhanced DA and dues. www.cityairnews.com
