Shri Anandpur Sahib, November 26, 2025: Another historic initiative has taken place on Punjab's sacred land. The Man government has made a big decision to make e-rickshaw and bus services completely free in Anandpur Sahib, Amritsar, and Talwandi Sabo. This decision is like a blessing for the millions of pilgrims who come daily to bow at the Gurudwara Sahib. This step is not just to make travel easier but also reflects Punjab government's dedication to public service and respect for the sanctity of the Guru's house.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made a major announcement on Tuesday from the holy land of Shri Anandpur Sahib. He declared that free transport service will soon start in the three cities recently declared as "holy cities" by the Punjab Assembly — Shri Amritsar Sahib, Shri Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo. This plan includes free mini-buses and e-rickshaws for the convenience of pilgrims and residents.
The aim of this service is to ensure easy and hassle-free travel in these historic and religious cities, especially at major religious sites and places frequently visited by devotees. Mann said this step is part of the government's promise to improve access to spiritually important cities, make travel easier for pilgrims, and provide better public facilities.
These three places—Anandpur Sahib, Shri Harmandir Sahib (Amritsar), and Talwandi Sabo—already have many services available for pilgrims. Free e-rickshaw and bus services will make it even easier for travelers, while inside the Guru’s house, these facilities help them visit with full peace and respect:
- Guru's Langar (Free food): The 24-hour langar sends a message of equality, service, and love. Millions eat here daily. The warm, nutritious, lovingly served food removes all tiredness.
- Sarovar bathing facility: At the sarovars in Amritsar and Talwandi Sabo, devotees find peace by taking a dip in the holy water. Special attention is given to cleanliness and security.
- Accommodation (free or minimal charge): Sarais are available in Shri Harmandir Sahib, Anandpur, and Talwandi Sabo with clean rooms, bathrooms, and basic facilities.
- Shabd-Kirtan and Gurbani 24-hour broadcast: The continuous sweet tunes of Gurbani create a sacred atmosphere. Devotees experience peace and spiritual power while sitting here.
- Medical services: Some Gurudwaras provide first aid, primary care, and ambulance facilities if needed.
- Shoe and belongings storage: Free facilities are arranged so devotees can visit without worry.
With this decision by the Mann government, elderly people, women, children, and travelers from distant places can reach the Gurudwara Sahib comfortably without any financial worries. This not only provides convenience but also shows the Mann government’s sensitivity towards the people and respect for the Guru’s house. This initiative strengthens the values of service, equality, and humanity on Punjab’s sacred land. It reminds every devotee that a government succeeds when it understands and acts on the needs and feelings of its people.
