Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria flags off GB Legends ‘Lake to Lake Ultra-2026’

Chandigarh, August 16, 2026: Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria today flagged off the GB Legends ‘Lake to Lake Ultra-2026’, an endurance running event, from New Lake, Sector 42, Chandigarh. Organised around the Independence Day celebrations, the event promoted the message of a “Fit, Healthy and United India”.

Over 500 runners and endurance enthusiasts from across India participated in the 30 km, 50 km and 75 km races, traversing the picturesque Shivalik foothills before finishing at Tikkar Taal in Morni.

Among those present at the flag-off were Jatinder Bajwa, Vice President, GB Realty, which supported the event through its sports promotion vertical, GB Legends; Harpreet Singh Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab; Amit Sood, CEO, GB Legends; Amit Chauhan, Chairman, Organising Committee; Race Director Amit Gulia, and members of the organising team.

Speaking on the occasion, Jatinder Bajwa, Vice President, GB Realty, said, “We are delighted with the overwhelming response to the Lake to Lake Ultra 2026. Bringing together runners from across the country around Independence Day makes the event particularly meaningful. It reflects the spirit of national pride that sport inspires.”

The 75 km Open Men’s category saw Prateek Verma emerge winner with a timing of 6:40:35, followed by Pradeep Kumar (6:59:14) as first runner-up and Suraj Prakash Meena (7:15:15) as second runner-up. 

In the 50 km Open Men’s category, Anirban Sengupta won with a timing of 4:55:33, while Varinder Singh Roora (5:44:18) and Dinesh Kumar (5:46:22) finished first and second runners-up, respectively. 

In the 50 km Open Women’s category, Vaishnavi Kaup took the top honours with 6:36:56, Richa Tandon (6:59:55)   was 1st runner up and Mamta Harsh 7:09:39 was 2nd runner up.

In the 30 km Open Men’s category, Sandeep Madaan emerged winner with 2:42:11, followed by Baljeet Sihag (2:48:42) and Inder Bisht (2:55:39). 

In the 30 km Open Women’s category, Shivangi Sarda topped the field with 3:09:55, followed by Manya Tripathy (3:20:34) and Urvi Tamra (3:25:03).

In the 50 years & above (30 Kms Men’s category), Inderjit Singh finished first with 3:10:02, followed by Harjinder Singh Chauhan (3:41:18) and Umesh Gupta (3:42:36). 

In the 50 years & above (30 kms Women’s category), Nini Bhatia emerged winner with 3:47:12, followed by Angela Pant (3:53:14) and Nishi Modgil (4:09:26).

In  50 plus  50 Kms Men's Segment, Dr Bishwanath Tiwary 6:55:49 was winner, Devenrda Kumar 6:57:02 1st runner up and R R Choudhary 7:03:35 2nd runner up. 

In the 50 plus 50 kms Women's Segment, Dharna Hassija 6:59:54 was declared winner and Junali Doley 7:34:57 1st runner up.

The scenic route through the Shivalik region and Morni hills provided a challenging test of endurance while offering runners an immersive sporting experience amid the region’s natural landscape.

The organisers said the event also showcased the potential of Chandigarh and the Morni-Shivalik region as destinations for sports, adventure and eco-tourism. They expressed confidence that the Lake to Lake Ultra would grow into a prominent annual endurance event, encouraging fitness while bringing greater visibility to the region.
