Education Minister, Punjab Harjot Singh Bains.

Chandigarh, October 24, 2025: Punjab’s Mann government has taken an important and visionary step, whose aim is to deeply connect the state’s youth with their glorious heritage and rich history. This is an initiative that will help the young generation recognize their roots and take pride in them. The government has specifically decided that the youth should be introduced in detail to the life-philosophy and the great, unique sacrifice of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, ‘Hind Di Chadar’ (Shield of India), so that they can understand how great their heritage is.

The Education Department has taken full responsibility for implementing this vision on the ground. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has made a big announcement in this regard and revealed the entire plan. He said that the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be celebrated with complete respect and honor on this sacred and historic occasion. On this holy occasion, a series of special seminars will be organized in all government and private colleges as well as all universities of Punjab.

The government’s purpose behind these programs is completely clear and straightforward. The government wants that higher education in Punjab should not just mean bookish knowledge or getting academic degrees. Its real and deeper goal is to create a young generation that is not only academically sharp but also equally strong and firm morally, spiritually, and in character. This initiative is an important effort toward making youth better and responsible citizens.

Education Minister Bains, explaining the subject matter of these seminars, said that their main focus will be Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s inspiring life-philosophy and his timeless teachings. Students will be explained in detail by academic experts and scholars how Guru Ji gave his unique martyrdom for the protection of religion, humanity, and principles. They will be given deep knowledge about the path of peace, respect for all religions, equality, and fearlessness shown by Guru Ji. The government firmly believes that these great teachings of Guru Ji are equally relevant in today’s modern era and can inspire youth to walk on the right path.

All preparations at the ground level have been completed to make this important event successful at every level. The Education Department has fixed the period from 27 October to 30 November, during which all these programs will be conducted. In this regard, official letters with detailed guidelines have been sent to the heads of all colleges and universities in Punjab. The Education Minister has specially emphasized that this is a sacred and serious occasion, so ensuring complete religious dignity and deep respect in organizing all these programs will be mandatory.

It can be said that this is truly a highly praiseworthy and welcome effort by the Punjab government. This step will not only introduce the new generation well to their glorious history and the supreme sacrifice of the great Gurus, but will also create genuine respect for those sacrifices in their minds. This initiative will play an important role in inspiring youth for a long time to come to walk on the path of truth, service, and sacrifice shown by their Gurus.
