Punjab government itself is intoxicated; how can it eradicate drugs? says Manoj Tiwari

Ludhiana, September 29, 2026: Drugs can be eradicated from Punjab, but if the government itself becomes intoxicated, how can it eliminate the menace? This was stated by BJP MP from Delhi and Bhojpuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari while addressing a rally held in Ludhiana on Tuesday, the ninth day of the Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra (Drug-Free Punjab March).
On the occasion, Punjab BJP General Secretary Jeevan Garg, former Punjab BJP General Secretary Praveen Bansal, Punjab BJP Core Committee member Jeevan Gupta, Punjab BJP Treasurer Gurdev Sharma Debi, senior Punjab BJP leader S.S. Channi, District BJP President Sunil Maudgil, along with Ranjan Kamra, Amarjit Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Rakesh Rathore, Ajay Tamta and Beena Kapadia, among several other BJP leaders and workers, were present.
Tiwari targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. He said, “This is not the first time they have made false promises to the people. The Aam Aadmi Party made several false promises to the people of Delhi over 10 years and pushed Delhi back by 20 years. Now they are doing the same in Punjab. They made false promises three times to make Punjab drug-free, while their own workers are allegedly hand in glove with drug smugglers.”
He claimed that smugglers caught by the BSF at the border and handed over to the Punjab Police are released the very next day at the behest of the state government. Punjab now needs a change.

Former Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu said that the yatra has reached its final stage. He appealed to the people to reach Jalandhar in large numbers. He said that Punjabis would have to support the resolve taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah; only then will Punjab become drug-free.
BJP CAN CHANGE PUNJAB’S SITUATION: PHOOLKA
Senior advocate and BJP leader H.S. Phoolka said that the neighbouring states have moved ahead of Punjab. Haryana has a growth rate of 11% and a per-capita income of Rs 4.40 lakh, while Punjab has a growth rate of 6% and an income of Rs 2.30 lakh. Phoolka alleged that industries and employment opportunities are not coming to the state. He said that only the BJP can change Punjab’s situation.
