Chandigarh, August 31, 2025: Punjab BJP leader and former MLA Arvind Khanna on Sunday accused the Bhagwant Mann-led state government of failing to provide meaningful relief to flood-affected farmers.

In a statement here today, Khanna said the Chief Minister was busy offering “crocodile tears” instead of concrete measures, and reminded him of his own promise of a Crop Insurance Revolution made when he assumed office.

“Over three lakh acres of crops have been devastated, yet the government has restricted itself to a token relief. A paltry ₹15,000 per acre cannot even begin to compensate for total crop loss,” he said.

The BJP leader added that Punjab’s decision to opt out of the Centre’s One Nation, One Scheme has proved disastrous for farmers, while several neighbouring states are successfully running crop insurance schemes.

Khanna further alleged that ministers and MLAs were busy distributing subsidised wheat and posing for photographs, instead of addressing the real concerns of affected families. “Punjab’s farmers face decades of struggle to recover, but the state government remains indifferent,” he said, warning that the AAP would face public anger in the next Assembly elections.
