Punjab government establishes 11 NRI police stations in state: IGP Gurpreet Deo

Chandigarh, October 20, 2013: Punjab Government has established 11 NRI Police Stations for speedy redressal of complaints regarding cases related to Non Resident Indians. Punjab Government has issued a notification according to which all police districts comes under the jurisdiction of these 11 NRI police stations.
Disclosing this here today, Inspector General of Police & Head NRI Police Wing, Punjab Gurpreet Kaur Deo said that earlier in 2008 Punjab Government set up 6 NRI Police Stations and now keeping in the view the demand of people this number has been increased to 11. She said that these Police Stations would directly function under the NRI Police Wing.
IGP said that now the Government has set up an independent NRI Police wing which has been strengthened with more powers to solve cases of NRI’s. She assured that justice would be provided to the each complainant in a time bound manner. She said that NRI Police wing is connected online with all Police stations and Head Office and all the cases are closely monitored by the DIG/AIG Rank officers of the NRI Police Wing.
Deo stressing on the transparent functioning of the NRI Police Wing said that corruption won’t be tolerated at any level. She added that the complainant would also have the access see the status of his file online from time to time.
IGP Gurpreet Deo briefing about jurisdiction of new NRI Police Stations said that SAS Nagar & Patiala districts would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station SAS Nagar, Commissionerate Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Barnala and Sangrur districts would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Ludhiana, Commissionerate Jalandhar would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Jalandhar, Commissionerate Amritsar, Amritsar Rural Police  district and Tarn Taran Districts would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Amritsar, Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka, Faridkot & Ferozpur districts would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Moga, Jalandhar Rural Police district would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Jalandhar Rural, Ludhiana Rural Police District would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Ludhiana Rural, SBS Nagar & Rupnagar districts would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station SBS Nagar, Kapurthala district would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur district would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur & Pathankot and Batala Police district would fall under the jurisdiction of NRI Police Station Gurdaspur. www.cityairnews.com
