Sond inaugurates new Tubewell built at a cost of Rs s 48.50 lakh in Khanna’s Ward 8

Khanna (Ludhiana), August 5, 2025: Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Sunday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring effective treatment, rehabilitation, and skill-training programs to reintegrate drug victims into society.
Addressing gatherings during the "Yudh Nashya Virudh" campaign in Wards 8, 13, and 14, the Minister emphasized the government’s focus on strengthening de-addiction facilities and rehabilitation programs to combat the drug menace. He criticized previous governments for patronizing drug traffickers and facilitating the trade. In contrast, he highlighted that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is taking stringent action to protect Punjab’s youth from drugs. He expressed satisfaction and stated that the backbone of the drug trade has been broken, thanks to the relentless efforts of the Punjab Police.
Sond also urged people to make this movement successful to make Punjab the first drug-free state. He highlighted that AAP’s National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Singh Mann are determined to save Punjab from drugs. During the events, Sond also administered an oath against drugs, with participants pledging to make Punjab drug-free.
Meanwhile, Sond also inaugurated a new tubewell for drinking water in Ward No. 8 built at the cost of Rs 48.50 lakh. He announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh from his discretionary quota for the development of Ward No. 8. The new tubewell will facilitate approximately 25,000 to 30,000 people and emphasized that the Punjab government is committed to providing basic civic amenities to the public.
On the occasion, Khanna Market Committee Chairman Jagtar Singh Gill Ratanheri, SDM Khanna Dr. Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Executive Officer Charnjeet Singh, Nasha Mukti Morcha Khanna Coordinator and Councillor Parmpreet Singh and others were also present.
