Chandigarh, October 12, 2015: Punjab has again put up an excellent show in U-19 Football competition of 61th National School Games, being held at Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir). Punjab retained gold medal in U-19 Football event of 61th National School Games by defeating Maharashtra 1-0. Earlier Punjab thrashed Rajasthan in Semi Final by 4-0 and got berth in Final. In quarter final Punjab beat Kerala by 11-10 in Penalty Shootout.
While greeting the winning Players their Coaches and Parents for this splendid achievement, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab said that this achievement is the result of consistent hard work the players had put in. He said that the Education Department has been giving priority to the sports from the primary level by providing every kind of infrastructure and technical assistance to the players.
