Chandigarh, October 25, 2013: The Punjab government today extended the deadline for regularisation of illegal colonies including residential plots and commercial buildings up to November 5 and after the last date the regularization can be done by paying penalty till November 15.

A decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting of Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and attended by Finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa, PWD minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Local Bodies minister Anil Joshi.

After a detailed discussion on the issue, it has been decided that to extend the deadline for regularization of illegal colonies due to festive season and busy schedule of people in view of Diwali and Vishawakarma festivals.

It was also decided that after November 5, 2013, the applicants could get their plots and houses get regularized but they will have to pay a 20 percent compounding fee on residential plots while 50 percent for unauthorized colonies and commercial sites till November 15.

The Deputy Chief Minister categorically said that there would be no further extension after November 15 and people should not drop this golden chance.

Sukhbir Badal meanwhile ordered officers to accept acceptance of forms both manually and online. This is being done to facilitate people to approach the authorities as they wish. Applicants are now also being given the facility to deposit online also. The Deputy CM also directed that all plot holders in the below poverty line (BPL) category could get their plots regularized free of cost up to 100 square yards. www.cityairnews.com
