Punjab Excise & Taxation Dept Clears ₹226.86 Cr GST Refunds in December, Reaffirms Commitment to Timely Processing

The Department has been proactively and efficiently processing GST refund claims, with significant progress achieved during the month of December 2025.

Ludhiana, December 17, 2025: The Excise & Taxation Department, Punjab, wishes to place on record the correct and updated position regarding Goods and Services Tax (GST) refunds, in view of a news report published today (17 December). The Department has been proactively and efficiently processing GST refund claims, with significant progress achieved during the month of December 2025.
From 1 December to 16 December 2025, the Department has issued 799 GST refund orders amounting to ₹226.86 crore across the State. Out of this, ₹193.01 crore has been sanctioned towards State GST refunds in 581 cases, while ₹33.85 crore has been sanctioned towards Central GST refunds in 218 cases. These figures reflect the Department's sustained efforts to ensure timely sanction and release of eligible refund claims.
The Excise & Taxation Department reiterates that timely processing and transparency in GST refunds are among its highest priorities. A dedicated and focused drive has been undertaken during December to expedite the clearance of pending refund claims. The progress of refund sanction is being continuously monitored at both departmental and district levels to ensure that all eligible claims are processed without delay.
The Department assures all taxpayers and stakeholders that GST refund processing is being carried out in a mission-mode with full commitment to providing timely financial relief to the trading and business community.
