SAS Nagar, March 11, 2015: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that SAS Nagar has been developed as Sports Hub of North India and it would have world class Athletic Stadium in coming year. He also announced to develop world class Golf Academy near Mullanpur in New Chandigarh.
Badal, who is also holding Sports portfolio, was here to dedicate first of its own kind Golf Club and Golf Academy established at a cost of Rs. 15 crore in 11 acres of land. He said Punjab government has fulfilled the long pending demand of Mohali residents to construct Golf Academy on the pattern of Chandigarh Golf Club. He said it would be the first academy, where budding players not only of Chandigarh but too from Panchkula and other areas of Punjab would get training of international standard. He said it would prove to be a boon for budding Golfers of the state. He said Mohali has got an exclusive identity on Sports Map of the country with International Cricket, Hockey Stadium and 6 multipurpose sports stadiums. He said this Golf Club has a swimming pool, table tennis, Restaurant, banquet hall, card room, audio-visual room, library and sports accessory shop for the facilitation of sportspersons.
Meanwhile talking to media persons Badal said in past few years Mohali had witness unprecedented development and it was leading to become No. 1 city in tricity. He said in coming two years it would be one of the most beautiful city of the region. He also announced that the Mohali international airport would also become operational in coming 6 months, which would generate new employment opportunities for youth.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included former Union Minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, constituency incharge Ujagar Singh Wadali, Chairman District Planning Board Bibi Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia and senior officers of various departments.
