Punjab designates officers to look after regularisation of illegal colonies

Chandigarh, May 19, 2014: The Punjab Government has designated different rank of officers to look after the regularisation process of illegal colonies in the state. The colony owners/plot holders would deposit specified amount of money before these officers. This deposited money would be used for creating a fund, which would further used for providing basic amenities to the citizens of these colonies besides infrastructure development. The Punjab Government has issued notification in this regard.

The spokesperson of the state government said that the Punjab Government has earlier decided to regularise all the unauthorised and illegal colonies. The colony owners/plot holders were asked to deposit specified amount of money for getting the colonies authorised. Now, the government has designated different rank of officers to facilitate the regularisation process of the colonies.

He said that for big cities; Chief Administrative of Special Development Authorities, for Municipal Corporations; Commissioner of the MC, for the colonies under Municipal Council and Panchayat; Deputy Director of the Local Bodies Department has been designated to supervise and facilitate the regularization of the colonies. He said that the money deposited by the owners/plot holders would be credited in to government exchequer. He said that the concerned Development Authority would be nodal agency of the state government for collecting fee and use of funds.
