Punjab crosses mark of two crore in administering doses of COVID  vaccine: Soni

Chandigarh, October 5, 2021: With the concerted efforts of Punjab Government, the State has administered over two crore doses of COVID vaccine so far.

 

 Disclosing this today Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Om Prakash Soni said that so far 1.48 crore people in the state had been received the jabbed of first dose while 52 lakh people got both first and second dose.

 

 The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also holding Health portfolio, said that as many as 2.16 lakh people got vaccinated only on Tuesday itself during the mega vaccination drive across the state.  He said that Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Patiala were the top five districts in immunization so far.

 

 Disclosing more about the ongoing vaccination the Deputy Chief Minister said that 1.77 crore doses of Covashild and 23 lakh doses of Covaxin had been administered in the state.

 

The Deputy Chief Minister said that 1.07 crore people in the age group of 18-44 years had been vaccinated while 55 lakh people in the age group of 45-60 years and 38 lakh people 60 years and above received jab of vaccine.

 

 Mr. Soni said that the Punjab Government is carrying out this vaccination drive on large scale in fast track mode to protect the people from Corona virus besides protecting them from the expected third wave. The Health & Family Welfare Department has fully geared up in view of the third wave, he added.
