Punjab constitutes special teams to audit all works of Local Government Department-Anil Joshi

Chandigarh, September 5, 2014: The Punjab government today constituted a special team to conduct thorough technical audit and physical verification of works of Municipal Corporation and Municipal Councils, Improvement Trusts, Panchayats, Water Supply department, Sewerage Boards in district Amritsar in other areas .  
A special team has been constituted by the Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi under the chairmanship of Technical Advisor, General V.K. Bhatt. This team has been assigned the task of monitoring, Auditing and Physical verification of all the development works carried out/being carried out by all the Municipal Councils/Improvement Trusts/Nagar Panchayats situated in the limits of Municipal Council, Amritsar and Amritsar District. This team will ensure the completion of audit within the stipulated timeframe and send its report directly to the Government.
Giving the details the Minister said that the team has also been given mandate to conduct a special check of any development projects completed or under construction of any wing of local bodies institutions of the state.
Joshi said that he has constituted this team to ensure quality control of all civil works being executed by various wings of local bodies department and hoped that this would bring transparency in the development works and ensure their completion according the prescribed standards. The Minister has made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated in the effective implementation of development works.
