Chandigarh, April 15, 2014: The Punjab Chief Electoral Officer VK Singh today administered oath to election office employees for vote casting and ethical voting. It may be mentioned here that today at 11.00 AM all government / semi government employees were administered compulsory oath for voting and ethical voting on April 30, when the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2014 were being conducted in the state.
VK Singh pointed out that ensuring vote casting by government employees was a huge managerial as well as motivational challenge and the Election Commission of India has already underlined the need to ensure more and more electors’ participation to strengthen the institute of democracy in the country.
The CEO office employees took a pledge that “We, the citizen of India, having abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement”.
Raminder Singh, Additional CEO, CSR Reddy, ADGP/ IT & T, Punjab and Arpit Shukla, IGP/Hqrs were also present on the occasion.
