Ferozepur, December 5, 2014: “The construction work of four laning of NH-15 will be completed till January 2015”, said DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur today while addressing the media persons.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the construction work which was started earlier this year in February, has been almost completed. He said that the widening of this road shall be handy for those who come to pay obeisance to Martyr Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev and also for those who came to witness the excitement of Retreat Ceremony at Hussainiwala Joint Check Post from far flung areas.
Last year, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had approved the widening of the Ludhiana-Talwandi Bhai road under the Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) system for Rs. 479 Crore. The decision had caused huge resentment among the Ferozepur residents who were demanding the four-laning of the road up to Hussainiwala.
Local MLA Parminder Singh Pinki, had mooted the matter to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways during the regime of UPA-II government, after which the concerned officials were asked to prepare a survey report and to revise the estimate for the project and an additional amount of Rs. Twenty Seven Crore Twenty Five Lakh were added for this 13 km extra construction work.
