Ludhiana, October 24, 2026: The sacred Ramayana, composed by Bhagwan Valmiki, is a timeless scripture of righteousness, truth, sacrifice and dharma that has guided society for thousands of years. Bhagwan Valmiki Ji conveyed the message that no person is inferior or superior to another and that every individual deserves equal respect and dignity.
Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon made these remarks while attending a function dedicated to the sacred Pragat Diwas of Bhagwan Valmiki Maharaj at the Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Temple on Qila Mohalla, Shivpuri Road, Ludhiana. The event was organised by Bhagwan Valmiki Adi Dharam Samaj and Baba Sahib Dalit Force Punjab.
On the occasion, Dhillon extended his heartfelt greetings to the entire congregation on Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Pragat Diwas. The organisers also honoured him and expressed their gratitude. Punjab BJP General Secretary Anil Sareen, Gurdev Debi, District President Sunil Maudgil, and other party leaders and workers were present.
Thanking Ajaypal Dishawar and all the organisers, Dhillon said the occasion was not merely about remembering a great personality but also about embracing his teachings in everyday life. Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s life teaches us that a person becomes great through their deeds, not their birth. His message forms the foundation of genuine social justice.
Describing Punjab as the land of Gurus and spiritual saints, Dhillon said the values of brotherhood and social harmony had been taught here centuries ago. He added that the contribution of the Valmiki community to Punjab was a matter of pride for everyone.
From working in the fields and keeping cities clean to guarding the nation's borders and serving society, the Valmiki community has set an example of hard work and honesty in every sphere, he said. He remarked, “It is our duty, not a favour, to honour the hands that have kept our cities clean.”
Referring to the BJP’s commitment to ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Together with All, Development for All), Dhillon said development is meaningful only when its benefits reach the person standing at the very bottom of the social and economic ladder. He emphasised that education, employment, healthcare and a life of dignity are the rights of every family. “Our struggle will continue until every child has a book in their hands,” he said. Urging people to remain vigilant against forces that seek to divide society, Dhillon said Bhagwan Valmiki Ji had preached unity, not division. He appealed to the congregation to pledge to break down barriers of discrimination and work towards building an equal, safe and prosperous Punjab.
Dhillon said the drug menace was devastating Punjab, with the state’s youth falling victim to addiction every day. To protect young people from this crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have resolved to make Punjab drug-free. He appealed to the people of Punjab to support the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign to protect the state’s youth from drugs and make Punjab a drug-free state.
