Punjab BJP Leaders Offer Condolences to Bereaved Family Members of Victims of Vrindavan Boat Tragedy

Jagraon,  April 19, 2026: Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders including Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Satnam Singh Sandhu offered condolences to the family members of devotees of Punjab who died in the tragic incident in which a boat carrying  group of 30 tourists, primarily from Punjab, capsized in the river at Mathura's Vrindavan town in Uttar Pradesh 10 April, leaving 16 people dead, most of whom were from the Jagraon and Dugri areas of Ludhiana district.
The Punjab BJP leaders including MP Satnam Singh Sandhu attended two separate Bhog and Antim Ardas ceremonies of five victims – Kavita Rani Behal,  Madhur Behal, Charanjit Behal, Chandan Behal and Ishan Kataria -- of this tragedy held at Geeta Bhavan and Gurudwara Dashmesh Nagar at Jagraon to offer their condolences of tragedy. 
Expressing profound grief on over the tragic boat capsizing in the Yamuna River at Mathura's Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab0 BJP leaders including MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, Dr Rajinder Sharma, district president BJP Jagraon, Inder Pal Singh former district president BJP, Naveen Jain, BJP IT District Cell In-charge, Gaurav Gupta  Gen Secretary Jagraon, Saurav Kumar, General Secretary BJP Mandal Jagraon, Gurdev Debi, treasurer Punjab BJP,  Krishan Kumar, District Vice President BJP, Satish Kumar, Vice President District BJP. Gejja Ram Balmiki, former National President Balmiki Sabha India, met family members of victims and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for those who lost their lives in the as extremely tragic incident.
The BJP leaders said it’s really sad that the tragedy struck when devotees from Punjab who were immersed in the devotion during the pilgrimage to the holy town of Vrindavan in Mathura. They said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the unfortunate incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured would receive Rs 50,000.
On the occasion, MP Satnam Singh Snadhu announced funds from Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) to Gurudwara Dashmesh Nagar for building a memorial in memory of victims. He said the decision for utilization of these MPLAD scheme funds will be taken collectively by the families of victims and local residents. 
The Vrindavan boat tragedy mainly involved pilgrims from Punjab, especially from Ludhiana and Jagraon.  The death toll later rose to around 16 people. The victims from Punjab include Kavita Rani Behal, Madhur Behal, Charanjit Behal, Chandan Behal, Asha Rani, Rakesh Gulati, Anju Gulati. Meenu Bansal, Dinky Bansal, Rishabh Sharma, Yash Bhalla, Monica Tandon, Pankaj Malhotra  and Sapna Hans.
