Punjab announces rotational irrigation programme from March 11 to 18

Chandigarh, March 10, 2014: The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Program for irrigation for the Rabi Season through Canal water from 11-03-2014 to 18-03-2014. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar Head Works, the channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from, Abohar Branch, Patiala Feeder, Bathinda Branch, Bist Doab Canal and Sidhwan Branch respectively.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Irrigation Department said that direct distributaries of BML, Ghaggar Link and its off-taking channels i.e. Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor in Group ‘B’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in direct distributaries in Group ‘A’ respectively.

The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and Branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozepur Head Works, Abohar Branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries, in Group ‘B’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilised in all the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in Group ‘A’.

The spokesman also said that in the Upper Bari Doab Canal system, Lahore Branch with its distributaries, being in the first preference would run to their indent.  Balance water supplies available would be utilised in Main Branch Lower, Kasur Branch Lower, Sabhroan Branch with their distributaries, respectively.
