Punjab announces rotational irrigation programme from August 23 to 30

Chandigarh, August 22, 2013: The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme for irrigation for the Kharif Season through Canal water from 23-8-2013 to 30-8-2013. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar Head Works, the channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan Branch, Bathinda Branch, Patiala Feeder and Abohar Branch respectively.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Irrigation Department said that direct distributaries of BML, in Group ‘A’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor of Group ‘B’ respectively.

The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and Branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozpur Head Works, all the direct Distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in Group ‘A’ being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Abohar Branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/minors, in Group ‘B’.

The spokesman also said that the in the Upper Bari Doab Canal system Lahore Branch with its distributaries, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilised in Main Branch Lower, Kasur Branch Lower, Sabhroan Branch and with their distributaries, respectively.
