PUNJAB announces 1% reservation for single girl child's in technical education institutes

Chandigarh, July 10, 2013: The Punjab Government today announced 1 % reservation in admissions for single girl children’s in the technical education institutions across the state.

Calling it a historic decision to boost up the gender equality and eliminate the discrimination against the girls in education, the Technical Education Minister of Punjab, Anil Joshi said that with this single girl Childs would be able to attain 1 % reservation in all the Engineering colleges, Polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutions of Punjab. Joshi has made it clear that this decision would be implemented from current session and necessary instructions have also been issued to the higher officials in this regard.

While appealing to all the governing bodies of private technical institutions to execute the new decision in their respective institutions, The Minister has also called upon them to perform a bigger role to ensure better education opportunities for girls.
