Punjab Agricultural University Confers Citation upon State Information Commissioner, Punjab Harpreet Sandhu

Ludhiana, August 11, 2026:  Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, conferred a Citation and Certificate of Honour upon Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab, during an official function held at the Committee Room of the Vice Chancellor, PAU, in recognition of his significant contribution towards documenting, preserving and promoting the rich legacy, achievements and institutional identity of the University through his publications, pictorial art documentation of agrarian heritage, environmental stewardship and cultural preservation far beyond the University campus.
The Citation acknowledges Harpreet Sandhu’s sustained creative efforts in enhancing the wider outreach of PAU’s academic excellence, agricultural research, environmental conservation initiatives and cultural and rural heritage.
Conferring the Citation, which constitutes an official recognition by the University, Vice Chancellor PAU, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, said that through his significant publications, artwork and heritage-based visual literature, Harpreet Sandhu has emerged as a distinguished “Ambassador of Punjab Agricultural University”, taking the message of PAU’s agricultural excellence, VC PAU Dr. Gosal appreciated the creative and scholarly dimensions of Harpreet Sandhu’s work in portraying PAU’s contributions to agricultural research, rural heritage, biodiversity and environmental conservation. He particularly highlighted his acclaimed book, “Wheat Fields of Punjab – The Spirit of Vaisakhi”, published by PAU, along with his evocative literary and pictorial documentation of the University’s museums, fruit orchards, peacocks, forests and heritage landmarks. These works, he observed, have brought the University’s rich institutional legacy and its deep relationship with nature, agriculture and Punjab’s cultural heritage to the attention of a wider audience.
Registrar, PAU, Dr. Rishipal Singh, IAS, in his special remarks, acknowledged the outstanding contribution of Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab in documenting and promoting the legacy, achievements and distinctive identity of Punjab Agricultural University. He observed that his work has generated significant interest and appreciation for the University’s rich academic, agricultural and cultural heritage.
Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, PAU, also lauded the sincere and dedicated efforts of Harpreet Sandhu in promoting the Museum of Rural Life and Social History of Punjab. He acknowledged his contribution towards highlighting the importance of the Museum as a significant repository of Punjab’s rural heritage and social history.
The Citation ceremony was attended by the Deans, Directors and Senior faculty members of Punjab Agricultural University.
