SLIP OF TONGUE
All the roads for Opposition parties lead to Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh) where eight innocent persons lost their lives after an SUV ran over the farmers. Ashish Mishra son of Union Minister for State Home Affairs Ajay Mishra surrendered yesterday following which he was arrested. BJP national president yesterday had stated that nobody is above the law. He had also stated that let the law take its own course and that, anyone involved in this case will not be spared whatever status one enjoys. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi accompanied by Rahul Gandhi visited Lakhimpur Kheri and announced compensation to the bereaved families. Even PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu announced a march from Mohali to Lakimpur Kheri. Sidhu’s tongue slipped and gave an opportunity to his opponents to launch an attack on him. The leaders of the opposition parties left no opportunity in issuing statements against Sidhu’s remarks during his slip of tongue whereas former Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh is silent till now and not opening his cards. Meanwhile, Punjab ministers are on toes to show their performance. Congress senior leaders like Sunil Jakhar are maintaining silence. There are indications that the Congress high command will certainly go ahead under the presidentship of Sidhu to contest the Punjab assembly elections 2022 to prove his leadership skills.
BJP PUNJAB FOCUSING ON CADRE MEETINGS
BJP’s high command seems to be strictly watching the performance of the party leaders in Punjab. There seems to be complete uncertainty as to whom the party tickets will be allocated for the coming assembly elections. Senior leaders like Madan Mohan Mittal, Avinash Rai Khanna, Master Mohan Lal, Prof Laxmi Kanta Chawla, Dr Baldev Chawla, Manoranjan Kalia, Chaudhary Swarana Ram and others are just mere spectators and watching the activities of the party in the state. There is whispering among the party folds that veteran and senior leaders also be given responsibilities to strengthen the party and motivate the party worker at grass root level to meet the poll challenges as there is possibility of multi corner contests in assembly elections next year. BJP Punjab has number of party spokespersons and media co-conveners. Still, there is need for talented people for highlighting the Modi Government’s programmes. There is also a strong feeling that leaders like Hardeep Singh Puri, Meenakshi Lekhi, Som Parkash, Tarun Chug, Harjeet Singh Garewal be assigned duty to make ground level contacts with the party cadre for ensuring smooth victory in the Punjab elections. The party’s national president JP Nadda has recently talked of strengthening the organizational structure. He is known as a positive thinker, visionary leader, a perfect orator and soft spoken skills. He has started his political career with BJYM and never looked back. In 2012, he was Political In charge of Punjab assembly elections.
AAP ON WATCHING MODE
Aam Adami Party (AAP) leaders in Punjab are keeping a strict vigil on all the political activities in the state. They are strictly watching the current political developments and motivating the masses to replicate the Delhi-Model of governance in Punjab if attained power in the state.
SAD-BSP ON TOES TO INCREASE BASE
The SAD-BSP combine leaders are motivating the party cadre to increase the base keeping in mind the coming assembly elections. Time will tell whether or not this alliance succeeds in achieving the target.
There are indications that the electorates will prefer to vote the candidates on their personal repo in the possible multi corner contests in the state.
