Pungrain leads in clearing payments to farmers  in Ludhiana, 6.64 Lakh MT wheat procured

During the on-going Rabi season, the state-owned procurement agency Pungrain has been leading Ludhiana in terms of making Rs 332.76 crore payments to the farmers who sold their golden grains to it.

Ludhiana, April 27, 2023: During the on-going Rabi season, the state-owned procurement agency Pungrain has been leading Ludhiana in terms of making Rs 332.76 crore payments to the farmers who sold their golden grains to it.

As per the details gathered from the Food, Civil and Supply department, Pungrain has paid Rs 332.76 crore to the farmers of their procured Wheat till April 27. The Markfed and Punsup, other state procurement agencies have also cleared payments worth Rs 290.98 crore and Rs 289.50 crore. 

Further, another Punjab's food grain agency Punjab State Warehousing Corporation has also made Rs 171.93 crore as payments of procured wheat to the farmers. 

FCI, the central agency has also cleared the payments worth Rs 31.15 crore. 

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik said that district administration has till so far procured 664274 metric ton of wheat in the various grain markets/purchase centres of Ludhiana. 

The Deputy Commissioner said that since the starting of procurement of grains in the district 671543 metric ton wheat has arrived in the markets across the district out of which 664274 metric ton has been purchased by the various agencies.

Malik said that 59.86 % of the procured stock has been lifted already metric so far. He said that so far payments worth Rs 1163.1 crore has been made to the farmers.
