Chandigarh, September 9, 2025: Panjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig chaired a review meeting to assess preparations for forthcoming national and international rankings, with a focus on improving the university’s performance parameters. The review followed the presentation of trophies to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig by the University officials, which were earlier presented by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, in New Delhi to the University for its performance in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025.

Dean of University Instruction Prof. Yojna Rawat, Director Research and Development Cell Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Registrar Prof. Y.P. Addressing the review meeting, Prof. Vig said these trophies are not just a recognition of past achievements but a reminder of the responsibility to aim higher. Panjab University’s rise in the NIRF rankings reflects the collective efforts of its faculty, students, and staff. Going forward, we will channel this momentum into making PU a hub of global knowledge and societal impact, she added.

Prof. Renu Vig further expressed her intention to interact with faculty across departments to motivate them towards achieving higher standards in academics, research, and innovation. She highlighted that key performance indicators of each department will be closely monitored to ensure systematic progress. The review of key parameters is essential to identify strengths and address gaps. Our goal is not just to improve rankings but to establish Panjab University as a benchmark of quality education and innovation at the international level, she added.

Panjab University was recently placed 3rd among all State Public Universities in the country and 3rd among Pharmacy institutions in the NIRF Rankings 2025 — a significant rise from its 2024 positions of 5th and 7th, respectively.
