PU to host Rose Festival from February 6 to 8

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, will organise its flagship Rose Festival from February 6 to 8, 2026, at the Sector 14 Campus. The three day festival draws thousands of visitors from various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh every year.

PU to host Rose Festival from February 6 to 8

Chandigarh, January 15, 2026: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, will organise its flagship Rose Festival from February 6 to 8, 2026, at the Sector 14 Campus. The three day festival draws thousands of visitors from various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh every year.
 
The Festival Secretariat was inaugurated by PU Registrar, Prof. Y.P. Verma. On the occasion, posters of the 15th Rose Festival and the brochure of the Flower Competition were unveiled.
 
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Verma said that the Rose Festival has evolved into an iconic annual event of the University, reflecting its cultural, social and academic ethos.
 
With the opening of the Secretariat, sale of forms for participation in various competitions has started at the Festival Secretariat, Single Window Enquiry. Participants can also apply online through pumis.puchd.ac.in.
 
Er. Anil Thakur said the online registration system has been developed in-house by the University, doing away with the earlier practice of engaging an external consultancy.
 
Er. Amandeep Singla, Assistant Engineer (H) and Organiser of the festival, said a range of competitions will be held during the three-day event for different age groups. These include Rangoli, Painting, Rose Prince and Rose Princess, Slogan Writing, Mehandi, Collage Making, Face Painting and Fancy Dress. The entries for the competition will be accepted up to 5 February 2025, 5:00 PM.
 
According to the schedule, the Flower Competition and Inauguration will be held on 6 February, followed by a cultural programme by the Department of Music in the evening. On 7 February, competitions in Rangoli, Painting/Drawing Competition, Slogan Writing and Creative Mehandi will be organised, with a cultural programme by the Department of Youth Welfare in the evening. On 8 February, competitions of Rose Prince and Rose Princess, Dancing, Collage Making, Face Painting and Fancy Dress will take place. The evening programme will include a fashion competition curated by the University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development, PU.
 
The festival will feature an open flower competition with around 90 categories. Separate Rose Prince and Rose Princess competitions will be held for three age groups. Facilities such as a food court, amusement park and gaming zones will be set up for visitors. Space will also be provided to sponsors to showcase their products and services, keeping in view the large gatherings expected as in previous years.
 
The event was attended by Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Prof. Yogesh Rawal, Er. Anil Thakur, Executive Engineer-II, Dr. Vineet Punia, Director Public Relations, Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security, Dr. Arun Bansal, Atul Dutta, Sukhpal Sharma, Assistant Manager, Press, along with members of the organising committee, faculty and representatives of teaching and non-teaching staff.
