PU to Host Next-Gen Drone Technology Workshop in September

Panjab University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renu Vig, has released the poster for the Next-Gen Drone Technology Workshop, being organised by the PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI), the Northern Region Science & Technology Cluster, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The workshop will take place on 1–2 September 2025 at the ICSSR Complex, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, 5 August 2025: Panjab University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renu Vig, has released the poster for the Next-Gen Drone Technology Workshop, being organised by the PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI), the Northern Region Science & Technology Cluster, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The workshop will take place on 1–2 September 2025 at the ICSSR Complex, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

 

Director, Research and Development Cell, Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Director, Computer Centre Prof. Sonal Chawla, Coordinator Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Secretary to Vice Chancellor Prof. Krishan Saluja and various senior officials were also present on the poster release function.

 

The workshop will highlight indigenous drone technologies with real-world applications across various domains, including agriculture, healthcare, sustainable development and more. It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the rapidly evolving field of drone technology across multiple sectors. Through expert talks, live demonstrations, and interactions with leading institutions and industry players, the event will showcase how drones are becoming key enablers of sustainable development, innovation, and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) across India.

 

The workshop will offer a foundational orientation to drone technology, covering its working principles and the evolving ecosystem in India. It will also provide insights into the policy and regulatory framework for safe and legal drone operations. Discussions will explore current real-world applications, future possibilities in drone-based innovation, as well as the social aspects and implications of drone technology in various community and developmental contexts.

 

 

Experts from premier institutes, including IITs, along with start-ups engaged in indigenous drone development, are expected to participate in the event.
