PU School of Communication Studies Holds Condolence Meeting for Eminent Journalist H. K. Dua
Panjab University's (PU), School of Communication Studies today organised a condolence meeting to pay tribute to H. K. Dua, eminent journalist and distinguished alumnus of the School.
Chandigarh, March 9, 2026: Panjab University's (PU), School of Communication Studies today organised a condolence meeting to pay tribute to H. K. Dua, eminent journalist and distinguished alumnus of the School.
H. K. Dua, former member of the Rajya Sabha and former Ambassador to Denmark, belonged to the first batch of journalism students at PU in 1956. He was remembered for his outstanding contributions to journalism and public life.
Faculty members, research scholars, alumni, and students paid homage to Dua and reflected on his legacy as a distinguished editor and public intellectual.
Prof. Archana R. Singh, Chairperson, School of Communication Studies, observed that journalism, as Dua believed, was not merely about reporting events but about defending truth and strengthening democracy. She noted that this principle guided his long and distinguished career in Indian media and that he consistently upheld the highest standards of journalistic integrity. Prof. Singh added that Dua remained closely associated with the department and continued to inspire generations of students.
Dr. Sumedha Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Communication Studies, said that the true tribute to H. K. Dua would be to learn more about his life and work and to emulate the values he upheld in journalism and public life.
During his illustrious career, Dua held key editorial positions in leading newspapers. He also served as media adviser to former Prime Ministers H. D. Deve Gowda and Atal Bihari Vajpayee and was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 2009.
Participants observed a moment of silence in memory of the departed soul.
