PU Organises Rehearsal for Panjab University’s 73rd Convocation

Chandigarh, December 12, 2025: Panjab University, Chandigarh has completed all arrangements for the 73rd Convocation, scheduled for December 13. Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria will preside over and deliver Convocation Address at PU Gymnasium Hall.
 
A total of four Honoris Causa Degrees and four PU Ratna Awards will be conferred during the Convocation. The Honoris Causa recipients are: Dr Vijay P. Bhatkar (Doctor of Science), Prof K. N. Pathak (Doctor of Science), Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel (Doctor of Laws) and Dr Amitav Ghosh (Doctor of Literature). The PU Ratna awardees are: Dr Sridhar Vembu (Udyog Ratna), Prof Pradeep Thalappil (Vigyan Ratna), Sarabjot Singh (Khel Ratna) and Amarjit Grewal (Sahitya Ratna).
 
As many as 347 awardees will receive Ph.D. degrees, which includes 220 female and 127 male distributed across nine faculties. 420 undergraduate and postgraduate toppers will receive medals and certificates, which include 317 postgraduates and 103 undergraduates.
 
Pharmaceutical Sciences has 4 Ph.D. recipients, Engineering & Technology 29, Science 104, Law 20, Business Management & Commerce 21, Arts 83, Education 37, Languages 42, and Design & Fine Arts 7.
 
PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig along with PU Dean University Instruction Prof. Yojna Rawat, Registrar Prof. Y. P. Verma, Director Research and Development Cell Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Controller of Examinations Prof. Jagat Bhushan, Finance and Development Officer Sh. Vikram Nayyar were also present during the rehearsal. Chairpersons of various committees further reviewed protocol, seating layouts, stage arrangements, security coordination and award distribution procedures.
