Chandigarh, May 30, 2019: School of Communication Studies at Panjab University, Chandigarh is set to begin two new diploma courses from the 2019-2020 session. A Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication and another in Radio Production will have 25 seats each. The department is already running a diploma in Advertising and Public Relations in addition to the Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication.
The two new Diploma courses have been planned keeping in mind the demands of the society and future needs of the industry. She added that syllabus of the diplomas has also been designed with due thought to requirements of an evolving and ever changing media industry.
The media industry is seeing a boom thanks to the shift online; news portals and web based television and radio channels have opened a new avenue for budding journalists. The spurt in radio channels, both commercial and community has also led to job creation in the arena.
