PU Hosts First International Workshop-cum-Symposium on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine

Chandigarh, January 30, 2026: The Panjab University Centre for Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Jeevasa Healthcare USA–Chandigarh Centre, organized the 1st International Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Workshop-cum-Symposium on “Therapeutic Applications of Stem Cells in Pain Management, Surgery Prevention, and Tissue Regeneration” at Jeevasa Healthcare USA.
The scientific sessions featured expert lectures and laboratory demonstrations by leading international researchers. Dr. Sivakumar Subramanian, Head Scientist, Jeevasa Healthcare USA–Chandigarh Centre, conducted an advanced laboratory session on therapeutic applications of stem cells and also interacted with M.Sc. students during a career counselling session. Dr. Dileep Reddy from the University of Hawaii, USA, delivered a talk on advanced cell therapy approaches in cancer biology and translational medicine, while Dr. Sunirmal Sheet from South Korea spoke on the applications of bioinformatics in biotechnology, genomics, and biomedical research.
A poster presentation competition was also organized, with active participation from M.Sc. students and research scholars of the Centre. Around 30 participants, including postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members, attended the programme, which marked an important step toward strengthening academic–industry collaboration and promoting advanced research in stem cell and regenerative medicine.
The workshop was organized under the guidance of Prof. Renu Vig, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh, with Dr. Seemha Rai, Chairperson, Centre for Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering, serving as the Organizing Secretary, in collaboration with Jeevasa Healthcare USA–Chandigarh Centre.
