Chandigarh, March 25, 2026: A special lecture on the concept of ‘Some Insights in Indian Knowledge Tradition’ was organised in the department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies.
The main speaker was Prof. Jagbir Singh, Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, Prof. Gurpal Singh Sandhu academic incharge of the department welcomed the speaker and audience and gave an introduction of the speaker. The speaker said that students and researchers need to understand their rich and vast knowledge and religious traditions. Due to the dominance of Western methods and principles; the study of India's own religious traditions has declined. We have to reconcile and re-establish this tradition. He specifically focused on the major differences between Semitic and Indian religious traditions.
Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, faculty of the department said while conducting the stage that in contemporary times, the discipline of religious studies needs to clarify its outline and needs to be implemented. The speaker also answered the questions asked by the students in the discussion held at the end of the speech.
