PU DPIIT-IPR Chair and Department of Laws Organises Online Awareness Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, Nagpur
Chandigarh, August 19, 2026: The DPIIT-IPR Chair and Department of Laws, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Nagpur organised an Online Awareness Workshop on “Intellectual Property: Basic Concepts & Fundamentals”.
The workshop aimed to cultivate a culture of innovation, creativity and legal literacy by creating awareness among students, researchers, faculty members and start-ups about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
The session was delivered by Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs, RGNIIPM, Nagpur, Dr. Bharat N. Suryawanshi, he shared his valuable expertise and practical insights into the field of Intellectual Property. He also provided an overview of the fundamental concepts of IPR with examples and highlighted the importance of protecting innovations and intellectual creations.
The workshop witnessed 68 participants joining the online session from Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam and Haryana.
The participants gained insights into the significance of IPR in promoting innovation, research, creativity, entrepreneurship and commercialization of intellectual assets.
The programme provided a platform for enhancing awareness about Intellectual Property Rights and encouraging students, researchers and other stakeholders to understand the importance of protecting their intellectual creations.
The DPIIT-IPR Chair, PU, expressed its gratitude to RGNIIPM, Nagpur, Dr. Bharat N. Suryawanshi, and the participants.
The workshop concluded with an emphasis on strengthening IPR awareness and fostering an innovation-oriented culture among the academic and research community.
