PU Department of Evening Studies Multi-Disciplinary Research Centre Conducted an Induction Programme for B.A. and B.Com Students
The Department of Evening Studies — Multi-Disciplinary Research Centre, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, organised an induction programme for the newly admitted students of B.A. and B.Com to acquaint them with university life.
Chandigarh, August 19, 2026: The Department of Evening Studies — Multi-Disciplinary Research Centre, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, organised an induction programme for the newly admitted students of B.A. and B.Com to acquaint them with university life.
Chairperson Evening Department PU, Prof. Neeraj Sharma welcomed the students and said that they have become a part of the department that believes in the overall development of the students. She emphasised that the students should remain focused on their goals and adopt a balanced approach between study and other activities. She advised the students to be vigilant towards inculcating the values of discipline, leadership, creativity, teamwork and social responsibility.
The programme included Deepak Lekhi, Scientist-F and Additional Regional Director, Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness (RCMA), CEMILAC, DRDO, Chandigarh, as a distinguished guest speaker. Lekhi interacted with the students sharing valuable insights from his extensive professional journey in aerospace and defence technology, emphasising the importance of continuous learning, developing communication and leadership skills and evolving in the pursuit of excellence with dedication and purpose.
The induction programme aimed to familiarise students with the rich academic, cultural and institutional environment of PU which was facilitated by taking the students for a physical visit to the A.C. Joshi Library, Gandhi Bhawan and the University Museum. This visit offered the newly admitted students an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the important academic resources and heritage spaces of the university.
The programme concluded with a special vote of thanks and appreciation towards the faculty members Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, Nitasha Kapila, Dr. Amneet Gill, Dr. Nirmal Singh and Dr. Narinder for their dedicated efforts and active involvement in planning, coordinating and successfully organising the induction programme.
The programme provided an engaging beginning to the students' academic journey and encouraged them to make meaningful use of the diverse educational, cultural and intellectual opportunities available at PU.
