PU CET (PG) Begins; 2,768 Candidates Appear for 14 Postgraduate Courses
As many as 2,768 candidates from different parts of the country today appeared for the Panjab University’s (PU) Combined Entrance Test (CET) for 14 postgraduate courses in the University on the first day of the three-day CET (PG) entrance examinations.
Chandigarh, June 19, 2026: As many as 2,768 candidates from different parts of the country today appeared for the Panjab University’s (PU) Combined Entrance Test (CET) for 14 postgraduate courses in the University on the first day of the three-day CET (PG) entrance examinations.
As many as 10 including seven in Chandigarh and one each at Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, and Sri Muktsar Sahib to conduct entrance examination on Friday.
PU Controller of Examinations Prof Jagat Bhushan informed that 91.17 percent students appeared in various entrance examinations today. To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, flying squad and observers were sent to every centre for routine checking and smooth conduct of the test. Jammers were also used to keep check on the mobile and any other WiFi device use during exam for cheating. The test was conducted satisfactorily and no untoward incident was reported from any of the examination centres.
M.Sc. (HS) Biophysics and M.Sc. (2Yr) (Renewable Energy and Smart Materials) recorded the highest attendance with all candidates present, marking 100% participation. The LL.M. program had the highest number of registered candidates at 1,242, of which 1,161 appeared, recording 93.48% attendance. Other courses with high attendance included M.Com. (Honours) with 93.57% (160 out of 171), M.A. (Geography) with 91.7% (210 out of 229), M.Sc. (2Yr) Environmental Science with 90.8% (79 out of 87), M.Sc. (2-Year) Nuclear Medicine with 90.07% (136 out of 151), and M.A. (English) had 642 registered candidates with 575 appearing (89.56%). M.Sc.(HS)(2Yr) (Microbiology) saw 122 out of 136 candidates present (89.71%).
Similarly, M.Com. (Business Economics) registered an attendance of 87.50% with 70 out of 80 candidates appearing, followed by M.A. (Journalism & Mass Communication) had a turnout of 85.82% with 115 out of 134 candidates present. M.Com. (Master of Entrepreneurship and Family Business) saw 82.86% attendance with 29 out of 35 candidates appearing. Masters in Public Health saw 86 out of 103 candidates present (83.5%), M.Tech (Instrumentation) course recorded 83.33% attendance.
