PU CET (PG) 2026 Concludes; 7413 Candidates Appear
Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, conducted the PU Combined Entrance Test (PG) over three days on June 19, 20 and 21 for admission to 39 postgraduate and professional programmes.
Chandigarh, June 21, 2026: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, conducted the PU Combined Entrance Test (PG) over three days on June 19, 20 and 21 for admission to 39 postgraduate and professional programmes.
PU Controller of Examinations, Prof. Jagat Bhushan informed that as many as 8,119 candidates were registered for the entrance test out of which 7,413 appeared, resulting in an overall attendance of 91.30 per cent. The day wise attendance remained high, with 91.17 per cent attendance on the first day with 2,768 candidates present out of 3,036 registered candidates, 91.39 per cent on the second day with 2,909 candidates present out of 3,183 registered candidates and 91.37 per cent on the third day with 1,736 candidates present out of 1,900 registered candidates.
Today’s entrance test was conducted across five examination centres, including two centres in Chandigarh and one each at Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib.
Among the programmes for which the examination was held today, M.Sc. (Hons. School) Mathematics recorded the highest attendance at 94.83 per cent, with 220 candidates appearing out of 232 registered. M.Sc. (Hons. school) (2yr) Chemistry witnessed an attendance of 92.80 per cent with 361 students present out of 389 registered candidates, followed by M.Sc. (Hons. School) Computer Science (Specialization in Data Science) at 92.79 per cent with 206 students present out of 222 registered candidates, M.Sc. (2-Year) Microbial Biotechnology at 92.54 per cent with 124 students appearing out of 134 registered, and M.Sc. (Hons. School) Zoology at 92.20 per cent with 331 appearing candidates out of 359 registered candidates.
Attendance in other programmes included M.Sc. (2-Year) Bioinformatics/System Biology & Bioinformatics at 90.08 per cent with 109 candidates appearing out of 121 registered candidates, M.P.Ed. at 89.33 per cent with 134 candidates present out of 154 registered candidates, B.P.Ed. at 89.31 per cent with 142 candidates present out of 159 registered candidates, Master in Geo-informatics at 85.00 per cent with 85 candidates present out of 100 registered candidates, and M.Sc. (Hons. School) Geology at 70.59 per cent.
PU Controller of Examinations, Prof. Jagat Bhushan informed that to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination, flying squads and observers were deputed to all examination centres for routine checks. Jammers were also installed to prevent the use of mobile phones and other Wi-Fi-enabled devices during the examination.
The examination was conducted peacefully and no untoward incident was reported from any of the centres. The question booklets and answer keys will be uploaded on the examination website on June 23, 2026.
