PTU to organise state-level event for non-engineering hiring of Wipro Technologies

Punjab Technical University organising an interactive session for the placement officers of affiliated institutes with the HR officials of Wipro Technologies at PTU.

Kapurthala, March 7, 2013: Punjab Technical University is continually working hard to raise the number of placements of its affiliated institutes. The placements of engineering graduates are always taken care by all the institutes and universities but the placements of non-engineering graduates are still get neglected. To strengthen the placements of non-engineering graduates of Punjab in Multi-National Companies, Punjab Technical University organised an interactive session for the placement officers of affiliated institutes with the HR officials of Wipro Technologies at PTU.

The session was attended by 50 Training and Placement officers of PTU affiliated institutes 

Sai Kumar National Head Campus Hiring, Wipro Technologies and Ovais Chishti, Regional Manager Campus Hiring Wipro Technologies were the invitees who chair the session and give all the details regarding the program through which Wipro is hiring non-engineering graduates. They also detailed out the nature of the program and its significance. The names of the programs are WASE and WisSTa. Students who joined the program are given a stipend for a period 04 years along with a regular degree in MS IT or MS CS from the Universities like VIT, Vellore and BITS, Pilani respectively. They also share that in this program they have 6000 openings annually and no tuition fee will be charged from the students. Once the student successfully completed the 04 years along with the degree, student can join Wipro as full time employee. 

Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu, Dean Academics Punjab Technical University, attended the session and appreciated the program as well as the number of openings available. He assured his placement team will organize a state level job event for the eligible non- engineering graduates. He said that PTU have always taken several steps to enhance the placements of its students. He said that visit of HR officials of Wipro would benefit non engineering students under PTU 

Navdeepak Sandhu, Placement Officer, PTU said the trend of IT market seems to entering into a new era of recruitment where opportunities for non-engineering graduates would be 50-50 as to that of engineering graduates. Now engineering graduates need to be more serious in their attitude & sincerity towards their job.  

Ovais Chishti delivered a HR talk to the post graduate engineering and management students of Punjab Institute of Technology, Kapurthala and gives them an overview about the basics of How to appear in an interview. He focusses that the attitude of a interviewee is the most important. He also shares the importance of general awareness along with the communication skills to get employable. Gazal Sharma Placement Officer, PITK, asked the students to develop an attitude with positive frame of mind to enter into corporate world.
