PSPCL Takes Important Step in the Interest of Pensioners and Family Pensioners
Date of Death of 2,109 Pensioners and Date of Birth of 876 Family Pensioners to be Updated in Records

Patiala, September 25, 2026: Er. Jagdev Singh Hans, Chief Engineer, Distribution Central Zone, Ludhiana, informed that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has issued directions to all DDOs for updating the requisite records in the pension package to ensure timely disbursement of financial benefits due to pensioners and family pensioners.
During a meeting between PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, and representatives of the PSEB Joint Forum and Bijli Mulazam Ekta Manch Punjab, the issue was brought to the fore that the non-availability of the date of death of certain pensioners and date of birth of certain family pensioners in the pension package was causing difficulties in the disbursement of benefits such as Old Age Allowance and LTC.
Upon verification, it was found that the date of death dates of 2,109 pensioners and the date of birth of 876 family pensioners had not been updated in the records. As a result, some eligible pensioners were facing difficulties in availing themselves of LTC, Old Age Allowance and other admissible benefits.
Taking serious note of the matter, PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, has directed all concerned DDOs to complete the requisite exercise within 15 days, so that the timely and smooth disbursement of admissible financial benefits to pensioners and family pensioners can be ensured.
In this regard, PSPCL issued a letter dated September 23, 2026, directing all DDOs to immediately verify the records of pensioners and update the required data on the basis of the relevant documents. In case any document or information pertaining to a pensioner is incomplete, the concerned office has been directed to contact the pensioner directly and get the deficiency rectified.
