Ludhiana, July 28, 2023: The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, have initiated a project to enhance power capacity of the substation in the industrial area of Ludhiana.

This initiative showcases the commitment of the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, in ensuring a robust and efficient power infrastructure to support the industrial sector.

Director Distribution DPS Grewal said that due to overloading at various substations, PSPCL was unable to release in time the new industrial connections. The authorities after taking into account the present running load and  demands of various industrial organizations have started this work.

He said that by addressing the power needs of industries, the government aims to foster economic growth and create a favorable business environment in Punjab.

To meet the growing power needs, PSPCL/PSTCL has undertaken the augmentation of a 100MVA Power Transformer with a new 160MVA Power Transformer at the 220KV substation in Dhandari Kalan.

Chief Engineer PSPCL Er. Inderpal Singh  said that this project is estimated to cost around Rs 12 crore.

He said that it will take around 20-25 days to complete the work and sought support from the industries while requesting them to cooperate during these days as they might witness some disturbances due to shifting of load.

He added that once the project is completed, it will lead to the immediate release of 33 pending large supply industrial connections that have been pending for over a year. Additionally, the augmentation of another power transformer at the 220KV substation in Sahnewal will also be carried out in the coming days.

He said that the augmentation of power capacity will not only meet the current demands but will also provide a solid foundation for future growth and development.
