Ludhiana, April 11, 2023: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has shown appreciable improvement in the performance rankings of distribution companies (DISCOMs) conducted by government of India through PFC and REC.

The spokesperson from PSPCL informed that in consumer service rating of DISCOMs conducted by REC for financial year (2021-22), the overall all India rank of PSPCL significantly improved from 47th last year with C+ grade & 62 marks to 10th with B+ grade & 84 marks this year among 41 DISCOMs under general category.

There were 26 pre-identified sub-parameters across the 4 major parameters - operational reliability; connections and other services; metering, billing & collections; and fault rectification and grievance redressal, which were evaluated individually in relevant sections.

The spokesperson also mentioned that PSPCL has improved this year to ‘A’ grade from its ‘B’ grade last year as per the 11th annual ranking report for financial year 2021-22. PSPCL is placed 11th in the current ranking.

The 11th integrated rating exercise covered 51 power distribution utilities.

Last year PSPCL was ranked 16th but now it has improved to 11th rank among 51 DISCOMs and stood at 8th rank among public sector DISCOMs.

This year’s ratings are based on 75 per cent marks for financial stability, 13 per cent for performance excellence and 12 per cent for external environments.

Utilities getting more than 85 per cent are placed in ‘A+’ grade, 65 to 85 per cent in ‘A’ grade and 50 to 65 per cent in ‘B’ grade.
